Below you can find the programs for our tours of 8 and 10. It is also possible to adapt a program to your wishes.

Program for a historical and cultural tour of 8 days through Iraqi-Kurdistan (North Iraq)

Day 1: Arrival in Erbil in Hotel Banoj.

Day 2: Erbil: we will take a morning walk through the old citadel of Erbil and the former Jewish district (Tahjil). In the afternoon we will visit the Choli minaret park, have a lunch and go back to hotel Banoj.

Day 3: We will pay a visit to the Christian camp in church St. Elia or visit the city museum. After that a visit to the old Bazar. We return to hotel Banoj.

Day 4: Early departure to the mountain village Rawanduz. On our way there we will visit the ruins of Saddam Husseins former palace near Eniske, the centuries-old town Amedi with its Assyrian gate, and Barzan, the birthplace of the currently governing Barzani-tribe. Overnight we will stay in Pank Resort in Rawanduz.

Day 5: See around in Rawanduz and then go to the Gali Ali Bag waterfall and the Bekhal waterfalls. We will lunch with a local family. The tour then proceeds to Sulaymaniya where we will stay in Hotel Babylon.

Day 6: Sulaymaniya: visit to the the Amna Suraka Museum (Red Prison Museum), the Slemani Museum and the Grand Mosque. After that we will drive to Azmar, a mountain with a great view of Sulaymaniya. We will return to city then and you can enjoy your free time in the Bazar.

Day 7: A day trip to the city of Halabja, which was attacked with chemical weapons by Saddam Hussein in 1988. The trip goes on to the waterfall in Ahmadawa where we will have a lunch. At the end of the day we will return to Sulaymaniya.

Day 8: Departure flight from Sulaymaniya.

This trip will be organized with a (mini)bus, a local drive, a Dutch/English speaking guide which is present the whole day and includes accommodation, local transportation and all meals. Please note that flight tickets are not included.

Day 4: Visit of the Yezidi sanctuary, the town of Lalish, as well as the Palace of King Senharib. The afternoon is free for a stroll down the river.
